One is that since it is free, chances are there are already a lot of others who are using that theme. So unless you know how to modify it, you will end up with a generic looking theme that many people have already seen. These free wordpress themes are great, but if you are trying to brand your own blog, this is certainly not the way to go.

So what’s the best approach to getting the best theme for your blog? Create one or if you don’t know anything about web design, hire someone who can. There are advantages to this.

1. You get the ideal layout that you want.
Do you prefer two columns, three columns or perhaps a single column theme? If you create your own wordpress themes you can simply decide on which one to choose. You can even have all of them in case you want to change from one layout to another.

2. You can choose all the elements.
You can use whatever font type you want and font size as well, including the color. For some reason you want your link to be pink? You can do that, too. The wordpress themes that you will create will contain every element or style that you want.

3. It is yours and your alone.
If you are going to create your own brand, you can certainly translate that brand into your wordpress themes. A brand is something that is unique so should your theme as well.

So if you have the resources or the knowledge to create your own theme, do it. After all it is always better to create your own than just use something that is free. The quality is always better if you have designed it yourself.
