There are many wordpress themes available today that caters to almost any blog topic. You can literally go dizzy trying to choose from all of those themes because a lot of them are really good themes and can mesmerize you with just one look. So how do you go about choosing the best theme for your blog? Usually it’s just a gut feel on what you think will work for your blog, unless you have more specific purposes like for affiliate marketing or podcasting.

There are two ways you can get a theme. There are free wordpress themes and there are also paid themes which are usually called premium wordpress themes. If you think that the only difference between the two is that you pay for a premium theme while you get a free theme for nothing, then you are wrong.

Free wordpress themes are excellent themes, if the layout is professionally done and the coding of the whole theme is clean and perfect for the search engine to scan and understand. You see, the way a theme is coded is important if you are planning to do some search engine optimization. Some themes are shabbily done and it’s code is equally so.

Premium or paid wordpress themes on the other hand, are a safer bet in this aspect because the designer understands that people normally pay for a theme because they have search engine optimization in mind. However if that is not the case, always there are better features for a paid theme compared to a free one. It is usually easier to modify a premium theme even if you don’t know any html or css.

Choosing the best theme is really a matter of preference and taste. When you feel something is already good enough for you and your blog’s visitors, then go for it.
